Sandesh Borde annexes Junior boys singles title in carrom tourney

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) Sandesh Borde (Pune) beat Deepak Kare (Mumbai) 25-8, 25-18 to lift the maiden title of Junior Boys Singles in the Maharashtra State Junior Boys&Girls Inter District carrom championship held in Nashik recently.

According to a release issued here today, Parchi Kanukale of Mumbai blanked Shraddha Govilkar of Mumbai 25-5, 25-10 to lift the girls singles title.

The tournament had attracted around 170 entries from 11 carrom playing districts of Maharashtra. In the youth boys singles final, Nilesh Kori of Mumbai faced tough challenge from Pankaj Pawar of Thane before prevailing 18-25, 25-23, 25-6 to lift the title.

In the Youth girls singles final, Komal Kajrolkar of Mumbai beat Anjali Sangam of Mumbai 25-1, 25-8 to annexe the title, the release added.

Players selected from this championship will represent Maharashtra in the forthcoming 35th Junior National and Inter-state Carrom Championship to be held in Bihar and the eighth West Zone Carrom Championship to be held at Alibaug, District Raigad, the release added.
