Reports of embezzlement in Ghogha dairy scheme false:MCD
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today clarified that no irregularities were involved in operation of the Ghogha dairy development scheme wherein plots were booked by those running illegal dairies in the capital.
Refuting reports, appearing in the media since yesterday, of multi-crore money embezzlement in the scheme, MCD Standing committee chairman Jaikishen Sharma said a stray cattle committee had been appointed by the Delhi high court , under the chairmanship of Mr L C Jain, to regularly monitor the scheme.
''The chairman of the committee, L C Jain, has in a communication with the MCD, refuted media reports of any multi-crore embezzlement in the running of the scheme,''Mr Sharma told reporters at a joint press meet with Leader of the House in the MCD Jitender Kochar, Deputy chairman of the standing committee Tarsem Bansal and MCD members Brijmohan Sharma and Satbir Sharma.
From the comminication of Mr Jain, it is clear that the media reports of a multi-crore embezzlement in operation of the scheme are untrue and merely a figment of imagination,'' Mr Sharma said.
On the demand for a vigilance enquiry in the scheme, Mr Sharma said,''Since a committee appointed by the court is already submitting regular status reports about the progress of the scheme, appointing a vigilance enquiry would only amount to contempt of court.'' The clarification by the MCD comes in wake of reports appearing in some sections of the media of a massive embezzlement of money in the said scheme.
