Punj Lloyd bags $290 mln pipeline order
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Punj Lloyd today said it secured a 290 million dollar order from Libya-based Sirte Oil Company, for pipeline projects on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.
The single largest contract bid won by the company, comprises of two contracts. The first contract, valued at 149 million dollar, involves the construction of the main 34 inch diameter, 98.4 km pipeline from Tripoli to Melita and a 24 inch diameter, 21 km branch pipeline to the Zawia power plant.
The work scheduled to be completed in 22 months, involves construction of gas pressure reducing and metering stations and a compressor station at Melita.
The second contract, scheduled to be completed in 18 months, is worth 141 million dollar. It involves completion of the 34 inch diameter, 157 km El Khoms-Tripoii pipeline, extensive civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation work on the gas pressure reducing, metering and SV stations, compressor stations at Sidra and Wachkah, telecommunication and SCADA works.
''This is an important milestone for Punj Lloyd and will help us to set a strong foothold in Maghreb and Africa,'' Company Chairman Atul Punj said.
This order is close on the heels of another order of Rs 823 crore from Rajasthan Vidyut Utapadan Nigam Ltd, Jaipur for building up 2x250 MW power plant on EPC basis.
With this contract, the total value of unexecuted orders as on July 1, 2006 and new orders received till date for Punj Lloyd group (including Sembawang Engineers&Constructors, Singapore) is Rs 11,909 crore.
Over 61 per cent of the company's order backlog is now represented by projects based outside India, a company spokesperson said.
