Police recovers stolen cash

Chennai, Aug 21 (UNI) In a swift action, police recovered stolen cash of Rs six lakh from a motor cycle borne gang within 45 minutes of the offence, here today.

Police said, one Tamil Selvam, a collection agent of a private insurance company, was walking down a street at Anna Nagar with the collection amount of Rs 6 lakhs, when he was waylaid by some unidentified gangs who attacked him and snatched away the cash.

On a complaint from Mr Selvam at the police control room, the city police alerted all the police patrolling parties and the traffic policemen.

When police intercepted a speeding motorcycle at a busy traffic signal at Vadapalani, the gang fled the scene after leaving the two wheeler and the bag containing the cash.

An investigation was underway, police added.
