Peerless Woods wins PGA for 12th major title
MEDINAH, Illinois, Aug 21 (Reuters) Tiger Woods produced yet another superb last round surge to win the PGA Championship for the third time yesterday.
The American world number one started the day level with Briton Luke Donald on 14-under but moved comfortably clear of the field with a clinical display as he extended his record of always winning when leading going into the last day of a major.
Woods finished with a four under par 68, five shots clear of 2003 winner Shaun Micheel, who shot three-under par 69.
Yesterday's success was Woods's 12th major title, taking him ahead of American Walter Hagen. Only Jack Nicklaus, on 18, has won more of the sport's big four events.
