One killed, Lashker ultra arrested, huge cache of arms seized in J

Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) Militants shot dead one person while security forces apprehanded a Lashker ultra and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

He said militants shot at and critically wounded Abdul Rashid Mir, near his house at Sriwarpora Pattan in Baramulla district of north Kashmir late last night.

Mir was immediately evacuated to Shar-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, here, where he succumbed to his injuries, he said.

Security forces apprehended a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) ultra from Wanigam Payeen in Baramulla last night. One Ak rifle, four magazines, one wireless set, one antenna, three remote contrls of IED, three detonators, three matrix sheets and some incriminating documents were seized from his house.

He said security forces also seized four pistols, eight magazines, 14 rounds of ammunition and 15 hand grenades at Nallah Base Dullanja in the jurisdiction of Uri police station last night.

Security forces today busted a militant hideout at Shakridhar village in Doda district of Jammu region from where three UBGLs, one binocular, 261 rounds of ammunition, one 10-kg IED fitted with remote control, one letter pad of a Hizbul Mujahideen and some ration items were seized.

Security forces also seized seven UBGL grenades, seven detonators, one telescope, one mobile phone and 99 rounds of ammunition from Topi Peer area in Poonch district during a search operation, the spokesman said.
