No objection to sale of Maruti share: Deb
New Delhi, Aug 21: Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Deb today said his ministry had no objection to the sale of the government's remaining 10.27 per cent stake in Maruti Udyog Ltd.
''I have no reservation to the sale of remaining share in Maruti. I have already informed this to the finance minister,'' Mr Deb told a press conference.
The Minister said he preferred to sell the shares to banks.
The procedure of sale, he said, will be decided by an inter-ministerial committee to be set up especially for Maruti after the monsoon session of Parliament.
The committee will then send the proposal to the Union Cabinet for approval.
Maruti is 54.2 per cent owned by Japan's largest minicar maker, Suzuki Motor Corporation.
