Malaria claims 25 lives in Tripura
Agartala, Aug 21 (UNI) Malaria has so far claimed 25 lives in Tripura with the state government undertaking several preventive measures to control the disease.
A health department official said today that remote areas in tribal dominated villages under Dhalai and North Districts of Tripura were the most affected.
Though the death toll officially was 25, unofficially the toll was at least three times more.
However, the health department and NGOs had taken a number of measures to crub the disease in the state, said the official.
The Health department distributed 1 lakh mosquito nets in 11 blocks of the state free of cost, besides doing prompt tests on any patient with fever related disease and sparayed DDT in the state regularly.
In Dhalai district alone, more than 26,000 mosquito nets were distributed through Block Development Officers. The Health department with the help of NGOs also organised various awareness programmes in the affected areas, the source added.
