Key suspect in Sabarimala tantri case moves HC for advance bail
Kochi, Aug 21 (UNI) One of the key suspects in the Sabarimala tantri attack case, Bachu Rahman, moved the Kerala High Court today for anticipatory bail.
The court will consider the plea tomorrow.
In his application for bail, Bachu Rahman submitted that he had no connection with the July 23 incident and was being falsely implicated. Police had no case that he was present at the time of the incident.
Submitting that the investigation was almost complete and the recovery had been effected, Bachu Rahman said he was willing to cooperate with the investigators.
According to police, Bachu was the person who organised the gang, which attacked the Sabarimala tantri Kandararu Mohanararu in the Link Laxman flat of key accused Sobha John here on July 23.
The tantri, in his complaint to the police said he was robbed of gold ornaments and a mobile phone and was forcibly photographed with a woman in a compromising position. He was sacked by the Travancore Devaswom Board on July 24 after reports about his alleged involvement in a sex scandal surfaced.
So far, four people are in judicial custody in the case. Apart from Sobha John, who police say is a key link in a sex racket here, the others in custody are Anil Kumar, Vigil and Biji Peter.
Police had two days ago issued a lookout notice for Bachu Rahman and announced an award for anyone giving information about his whereabouts.
