Kerosene smell case being investigated: Deputy Chairman
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) After three adjournments due to members complaining of a kerosene-like smell in the chamber, the Rajya Sabha reassembled post lunch-break but Members still reported the odour of the chemical.
Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan informed the Members that the cause of kerosene-like smell inside the House ''is being investigated.'' However, BJP's SS Ahluwalia said that now the smell had spread to the lobby and it was becoming ''very difficult'' to breathe, particularly for the colleagues who suffered from asthma.
''It can be a danger to our security also as any poisonous substance can be sprayed through air conditioning system,'' he cautioned, but added, in a lighter vein, that ''they (ruling party) have found an easier way to kill the opposition.'' Thereafter, the normal business of the House was resumed with discussion on Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Bill 2005.
