Jyoti Basu suffers minor leg and elbow injury in residence

Kolkata, Aug 21 (UNI) Veteran CPI-M leader and former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu suffered minor injury after he fell in the bathroom at his Salt Lake residence here last night.

Mr Basu's long time confidential assistant Joykrishna Ghosh told UNI today that the nonagenerian leader suddenly slipped in his bathroom a little after midnight causing minor injuries in the right heap bone and right elbow.

Mr Ghosh said the doctors were immediately convened and Mr Basu had been advised complete rest. He had also been given some pain killer medicines.

"However, an X Ray would be conducted by this evening," Mr Ghosh said and reiterated that there was no cause for concern about the overall health of the veteran leader.
