J and K youth delegation calls on Prime Minister
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) A youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir, which is here as part of a youth cultural exchange programme, today called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
During the meeting, held at the 7 Race Course Residence of the Prime Minister, Dr Singh exhorted the delegates to used the exchange programme as an opportunity to understand the diverse culture of the country.
''If India has to progress its people, particularly the youth, should come together and make united efforts. We must try to understand how people in other states live and progress,'' he added.
The Prime Minister said India had made progress since its independence but much more was needed to be done.
''When you visit other parts of the country you must exchange views with the people of that area... And on returning home, you must share your experiences with your people. This will strengthen our unity,'' he added.
