Huge cache of arms, ammunitions recovered in Doda
Jammu, Aug 21 (UNI) Security personnel today recovered a huge cache of arms, including IEDs, and averted an attempt by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) to disrupt the ongoing ''Kailash Yatra'' in Doda district here.
Defence sources told UNI that Army and Special Task Force (STF), during a joint search operation in Shakheri Dhar, found a cave type hideout of militants early in the morning in Sikri Gali area and recovered 10 kg RDX, four Remote Control Improvised Electronic Devices (RCIEDs), four UBGL shells, 66 AK rifles and 183 SLR rounds, magzines, one binocular, 26 HM letter pads, 450 kg ration and blankets.
The militants fled from the hideout, sources said.
''Had the security forces not recovered the cache on time, the militants could have been successful in creating disturbance during the ongoing ''Kailash Yatra,'' sources added.
The recovery has been made at a time when Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was also present in Bhaderwah town of the district for two days recently in connection with tourism festival and flagging off of ''Kailash Yatra'' function.
