Former BJP MLA's son remanded in police custody till Aug 29

Akola, Aug 21 (UNI) Prashant Shikhre, the 20-year-old son of former BJP MLA Prof Yadavrao Pujaji Shikhre who had conspired his father's killing, was remanded in police custody till August 29 by the Magistrate of Wahim last evening.

Prashant and his friends had allegedly killed his father on Friday night when all family members of the deceased had gone to Ambad for a function. He was arrested on Saturday night by the police and has confessed to the crime.

Meanwhile, the Washim police sources said they were yet to trace the other three absconding killers despite the police teams were sent to various places to nab them on the basis of the information provided by Prashant.

They also have to ascertain whether Prashant hatched the conspiracy on his own or with the help of others, police added.

Several political leaders like BJP district chief Suresh Lunge, BJP MLA Vijay Jadhav, Shiv Sena MLA Rajendra Patni, People's Republican Party (PRP) district chief Daulat Hiwrale have expressed shock over the incident.
