Centre imports 70,000 tonnes of urea for flood hit Gujarat

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The Government has imported 70,000 tonnes of urea for flood hit Gujarat besides the regular supplies of fertilisers to the state, Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ramvilas Paswan said here today.

Talking to a Gujarat delegation, he said, the state Government should take expedient steps to facilitate easy movement of allocated fertilisers across the state to overcome local shortages.

The imports are necessiated because the urea production in Hazira unit of the KRIBHCO in Gujarat has been adversely affected because of floods, official sources said.
