BJP crticises NDA on law and order scenario

Ranchi, Aug 21 (UNI) Members from treasury and opposition came down heavily on Home Minister Sudesh Mahto over the deteriorating law and order situation in Jharkhand today.

A BJP member, Chittaranjan Yadav told the House that he could not visit his village in Hazaribagh district due to militant activities.

The BJP member represents Barkattha legislative constituency in the district.

Taking clue from his colleague, another senior member, Rabindra Rai (BJP) said the matter should be a priority for the government as it deals with security.

The home minister said the government had already proposed to set up 123 police stations, 73 out posts and ten temporary out posts in the state to provide more security.

JD-U's Radhakrishna Kishore said the decision was taken last year but no fund was allocated for the same.

Leader of Opposition Sudhir Mahto said more police stations should be set up in the sensitive areas, adding that 18 out 22 districts were militant infested.

BJP member Bishnu Bhaiya told the house that Dumka and Jamtara districts were being used as a corridor by the extremists and naxalite activities in Narayanpur area of Jamtara were picking up.

Mr Bhaiya said he had been advised by the district administration to avoid venturing out after 1900 hrs and demanded to know the inititative being taken by the government to check the trend.

The home minister said a high-level meeting would be held on this issue.
