Bismillah Symbolised Secular Ethos Of Indian Music

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Ustad Bismillah Khan symbolised the secular ethos of Indian classical music, Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh said today, condoling the death of the world famous maestro of Shehnai.

''I am deeply grieved by the sad demise of Shehnai Maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan,'' the HRD Minister said in a message. ''Ustad Bismillah Khan whose name has become synonymous with Shehnai symbolised the secular ethos of Indian Classical Music.

''The Bharat Ratna recipient enthralled audiences all over the world with his music and the country and the music world have suffered an irreparable loss by his demise.

''I am sure that though the Ustad is no more with us, the melodious voice of his Shehnai will eternally echo in the minds and hearts of humanity. I convey my heartfelt condolences on the passing away of the Shehnai maestro and pray that his soul may rest in everlasting peace.'' UNI MJ PR HS1518
