60 hospitalised in Cherthala area with suspected chicken gunia

Alappuzha, Aug 21 (UNI) Nearly 60 people have been admitted in the primary health centres and the Cherthala taluk hospital in this district with suspected chicken gunia fever.

As the patients are showing the symptoms of chicken guina, District Deputy Medical Officer Dr Jagan Mohan said that the blood samples collected from the patients will be sent to the Virology Institute in Pune.

All patients are reported from Pattanakkad, Kadakkarappally, Thanneermukkom and Cherthala municipality.

Dr Jagan Mohan said the virus of chicken gunia spreads by Eadius mosquitoes. This mosquito is the carrier of the virus of Dengue fever also. The presence of Eadius mosquitoes in the affected panchayats and Cherthala municipality is very high.
