25 policemen injured as para teachers pelt stones

Ranchi, Aug 21 (UNI) About 25 policemen, including senior superintendent of police R K Mallik, were injured when a group of agitating para teachers pelted stones at them at Birsa chowk near the Assembly here today.

Mr Mallik told UNI that a delegation of the para teachers came out after meeting Chief Minister Arjun Munda and were discussing their issues with other members waiting near the chowk.

Some teachers suddenly started pelting stones at the policemen on duty forcing the latter to lob tear gas shells.

Mr Mallik, however, did not specifically say what provoked the teachers to pelt stones.

Some para teachers also received minor injuries.
