UP Cong holds all-religion prayer on Rajiv's birth anniversary

Lucknow, Aug 20 (UNI) An all-religion prayer was held at the Uttar Pradesh Congress headquarters here to mark the 62nd birth anniversdary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Speaking on the occasion, UP Congress president Salman Khurshid said party workers should work towards realising the dreams of the late leader.

''Youth and women are enjoying the fruits of the vision Rajiv ji had for the two...he worked towards youth and women empowerment. We should all pledge to continue turning his dreams into reality,'' he said.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pramod Tiwari said the peace in Punjab and Mizoram were results of the efforts put in by the former Prime Minister.

To mark the occasion, a film on Rajiv Gandhi was also shown to those present.

His birth anniversary was also celebrated in various districts of the state, the party said.
