Textile workers to take out procession in Pondy
Pondicherry, Aug 20 (UNI) Workers of all trade unions of the government-owned AFT Mills would take out a procession from the mill to the Legislative Assembly on August 22 to press their demands.
Pondicherry Textile Mills Labour Union Secretary V S Abishegam in a statement today said their demands included the appointment of the wards of the mill workers to ensure the functioning of the now defunct machines to make the mill profitable and implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations to the AFT mill workers, among other things.
He said the workers of the Swadeshi and Bharathi textile mills would also join the procession and demonstration.
Memoranda would be submitted to Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Labour Minister E Valsaraj, he added.
