Sena to organise mass singing of ''Vande Mataram'' on Sep 7

Mumbai, Aug 20: Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today said his party will organise mass singing of ''Vande Mataram'' on September 7 to mark the centenary celebrations of the national song.

Reacting to reports about opposition from certain sections to the singing of the national song on September 7 on the grounds that such singing was ''anti-Islamic'', Mr Thackeray said, ''Those who feel so have no right to stay in India.'' Shiv Sena will never tolerate opposition to ''Vande Mataram'' which was the ''mantra'' of revolutionaries and freedom fighters during the freedom struggle, he added.

Mr Thackeray said ''Singing of Vande Mataram is a salutation to the motherland.'' Mr Thackeray said the Shiv Sena will organise mass singing of the song at 1100 hrs on September 7 to celebrate the centenary of Vande Mataram.
