PIL against Shahrukh Khan for violating DC regulations

Mumbai, Aug 20 (UNI) The Bombay High Court will hear on Thursday a public interest litigation alleging that Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and others were developing plots of lands in violation of the development control regulations.

The Bhrashtachar Nirmoolan Sangathana here has filed the PIL alleging that Khan and others are developing three plots of land at Bandra, Malad and Kandivali in violation of the regulations.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal commissioner had ignored the requirements of the provisions of law and granted concessions to Khan and others, the petitioner has alleged.

''Such discretion can be excercised only in rare cases,'' the petitioner's counsel Shakuntala Joshi had earlier contended before a division bench comprising justices R M Lodha and S A Bobde.

The other respondents in the case are Sonam Earth Movers Construction Pvt Ltd and Mr Dinesh Shah of Goodwill Builders.

Shahrukh Khan's construction is at Bandstand, Bandra. The second construction work pertains to a mall at Malad that has parking on the top floors. The third plot is at Kandivali which was allegedly allowed to be constructed despite misrepresentation of plans.

Adv Joshi submitted before the court that she had recieved further documents from the municipal corporation through the Right to Information Act and would place them before the court.
