New Justice Party urges Centre to intervene in Lanka conflict
Chennai, Aug 20 (UNI) Members of the New Justice Party (NJP) staged a demonstration here today, condemning the attack against innocent Tamils especially the killing of 61 school girls at an orphanage at Sencholai in Sri Lanka recently.
The party's founder President A C Shanmugam, who led the demonstration, urged the Centre to intervene and ensure protection to the life and properties of Tamils in the island nation.
Mr Shanmugam hailed the DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's concern for the affected Sri Lankan Tamils and for condemning the attack on the school girls through a resolution on the floor of the state assembly.
Mr Karunanidhi should insist on the Centre to take suitable action immediately to safeguard the interest of Sri Lankan Tamils, he said.
He also urged the Centre to stop all assistance especially military, to the Sri Lankan Government immediately.
