Ministry will ensure implementaton of Centre schemes: Vasan

Chennai, Aug 20 (UNI) Union Minister of State of Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan today said his ministry was making all efforts to ensure that all the Centre's schemes reach the needy.

Participating in the Rajiv Gandhi birth anniversary celeberations organised by the city Congress' here, Mr Vasan recalled former Prime Minister's dedication towards upliftment of the country in all fields especially in the Computer and Communication sector.

He said because of Mr Gandhi's efforts, the nation today secured a vantage position in the IT sector.

He said Mr Gandhi sacrificed his life for the sake of the country's integration and unity.

He said the Congress, though not in power in Tamil Nadu for the last 40 years, had maintained its popularity and fame.

He urged the congressmen in the state to unite and work hard to fulfil the dreams of Late leader Kamaraj.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the oversight committee on implementing reservation to the OBC and AICC's Tamil Nadu observer Veerappa Moily said while some political leaders thought only of next elections Rajiv Gandhi thought about the future of the country and future generations.

Mr Moily also recalled Rajiv Gandhi's efforts to achieve cent per cent literacy.
