Meghalaya Police arrests GSU actvists for abduction
Shillong, Aug 20 (UNI) Meghalaya police today arrested five Garo Students' Union activists, including its president of Khasi Hills zone Aldo N.Sangma, for allegedly kidnapping four girls from the city last night.
The four girls, who the GSU activists alleged to be ''call girls'', were rescued this morning from a Garo School nearby the official residence of former Chief Minister D D Lapang.
According to police, the GSU activists in their preliminary statement said they picked up the four girls mainly to prevent them from indulging in flesh trade.
Police said all the four girls were also badly assaulted by the GSU activists, adding that one of the girls have been admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the GSU members under kidnapping, assaulting and trespassing.
