Major shutdown of Railway reservation system

New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) A computer glitch disrupted the ticket reservation system of Northern Railways for a few hours today.

Northern Railways, which normally allows computerised booking of rail tickets from 0800 to 1400 hrs on Sundays, thus kept it open till 1800 hrs today after the system was rectified at 1450 hrs, a Northern Railways spokesman said.

Rail charts and refunds were made manually during the hours when the computer system went down, he said.

The fault caused disruption in booking of tickets at 340 locations across the country, he informed.
