K'taka remembers Rajiv

Bangalore, Aug 20 (UNI) Poor feeding, special prayers and blood donation camps marked the 62nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi here today.

The Congress leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of the late leader at the party office here. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge administered the 'Sadbhavana' pledge to the workers.

Special prayers and recitation of verses from holy books were also held. The party workers organised blood donation and health camps, besides planting saplings to mark the occasion.

The day was observed as Renewable Energy Resource Day.

The party functionaries also garlanded Mr Gandhi's statue in front of the Vidhana Soudha, the state Secretariat.

Similar functions were organised across the state in remembrance of the charismatic leader.
