Israeli troops kill Palestinian in West Bank -radio

JERUSALEM, Aug 20 (Reuters) Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian and wounded three others today at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank, Israel Radio said.

An army spokesman had no immediate comment on the incident.

The radio said troops at the Hawara checkpoint near the city of Nablus opened fire at a vehicle in which the four Palestinians were travelling, killing one of them and wounding the three others.

The Haaretz news website quoted security officials as saying the car had tried to bypass the checkpoint.
