India to witness more mega scale entertainment events
New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) With the government going easy on taxes, the country will witness a near flood of entertainment events, hosting shows on the lines of the recent Bryan Adams, Rolling Stones and Sting performances that had enthralled Indian audiences, leading to the mushrooming of institutes offering courses in event management.
According to a recent survey conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers, there is a gradual growth in live entertainment shows leading to a consequential growth in the Event Management Industry which is now a Rs 700 crore industry and still growing.
It is estimated by the industry players that growth in this sector is projected to rise from Rs 700 crores today to over Rs 1600 crores by 2009.
About Rs 50 crores has been spent last year by Government bodies in utilising the services of Professional Event Management Organisations. Event Management today forms an integral part of any marketing plan.
This growth is attributed to sudden increase in Live entertainment shows, domestic and international, corporate events like products launches, dealers meet, training programmes, various exhibitions, sports events, seminars, carnivals, national festivals etc.
The positive side is the growing acceptance of professional event management in both public and private sectors.
