HUDA to reserve plots for lawyers: Hooda
Bhiwani, Aug 20 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that residential plots would be reserved for lawyers by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and in case of large number of lawyers in an area, HUDA would develop even residential sectors for them.
Speaking at a function organised by District Bar Association here today, Mr Hooda said that government has enhanced from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 the ceiling of annual income to provide free legal service and 22,000 persons have so for availed the benefit of free legal aid in the state.
While lauding the contribution of the lawyers to the society, the Chief Minister urged them not to charge heavy fee from the poor and ensure that they get justice quickly.
He said that the facilities being provided to the lawyers in the state were better as compared to other states in the country.
He said that Rs 4.25 crore have been sanctioned to computerised courts in the state.
The Chief Minister, who himself used to be a lawyer, said in a lighter tone that he may have to spend his old age in their company and added that the number of lawyers in the present Council of Ministers was much higher than any earlier Council.
Mr Hooda announced to give Rs five lakh for the development of library of lawyers and Rs 10 lakh for expansion of the hall and purchase the furniture.
Minister of State for Tourism Mrs Kiran Choudhry said that negotiations were on with the Central Government to get a separate High Court set up for the state.
She said that the Chief Minister has been making all efforts in this regard, she added.
