"How can an individual decide on Telangana": Venkaiah

Hyderabad, Aug 20 (UNI) Ridiculing the assertion of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) that they repose confidence on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi regarding the formation of separate Telangana state, BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today questioned how a ''major issue like the formation of a state could be left to an individual who had no authority.'' Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day meeting of the party state executive here, Mr Naidu said the issue of formation of separate Telangana state should be either decided by the people of the region or the Parliament, the supreme legislative body of the country.

He said it was ridiculous on the part of the TRS to say that they were hopeful that Ms Gandhi would take a positive decision on the matter.

Mr Naidu blamed the Communists and the TRS for the ''present state of affairs in Andhra Pradesh, as they were responsible for bringing Congress to power.'' ''Though the Communists were opposing some of the policies of the state government, they were hand in glove with the Congress and were responsible for all the follies'', he alleged.

The executive demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the land acquisition for the Outer Ring Road project. The meeting also found fault with the CPI, CPI(M) and the TRS for the ''all-round failure'' of the government.

Party State President N Indrasena Reddy alleged that the TRS and Congress had cheated the people of the Telangana region by promising them separate statehood to get votes during the last Assembly elections.
