High alert in Mumbai till Ganesh Chaturthi: DGP

Mumbai, Aug 20 (UNI) Maharashtra Director General of Police P S Pasricha today said that Mumbai continues to be on high alert since last month's serial train blasts.

When contacted about reports of Mumbai being on high alert and police and paramilitary forces on standby, Dr Pasricha told UNI that the metropolis was in high alert since last month following the serial train bomb blasts which claimed nearly 200 lives. Security was beefed up in public places and the alert was to continue till the completion of Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The festival commences from next Sunday.

''We had not relaxed the security build up since then. So there is no question of any fresh alert being issued,'' he clarified.
