Harikrishna in joint lead after opening day of Ordix Open

Mainz, Germany, Aug 20 (UNI) Chess 960 Rapid World Junior Champion P Harikrishna made a clean sweep and won all his five games to share the lead with eight others on the first day of the Ordix Open here.

A record number of 68 Grandmasters and Women Grandmasters are part of a 632-player field in the Rapid Tournament in which 11 games are to be played in two days.

Harikrishna has five points after the first day along with eight others to be the joint leader.

Speaking to UNI after his fifth game Harikrishna said, ''After I lost two games in the FiNet Open on the first day, I worked hard on my openings and I won games with my favourite anti marshal. I won all the five games on the first day here. If I continue to win tomorrow than I will be in the top Position.'' UNI XC PM VP1215
