Govt enacts law to punish religious offenders: AP CM

Tirupati, Aug 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh government today enacted a law to take stern actioin against those, who indulge in propaganda of non-Hindu religions in the Tirumala hills, abode of Lord Venkateswara, according to State Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Talking to newspersons here he said a Central team would visit the drought affected areas in Chitoor district. The relief would be announced after three months, he added.

Dr Reddy said after laying the foundation stone for Sri Venkateswara Vedic University here that to protect the sentiments of the Hindus, proselytisation would be treated as a serious offence and under the law, those who were involved in the ''evangelical acts'' at Tirumala, would be imprisoned for two years.

He alleged that some organisations were trying to politicise the issue to defame the government.

Referring to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to Dairy Farmers he said the MSP was already implemented at some Dairy forms and it would be implemented shortly in Chittoor, too.

Referring to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) deadline over separate Telangana State, he said ''I am not concerned about it and it is better to ask those, who announced the deadline.'' UNI KNR SK PM0110
