Discovery park possible in RGIITA campus soon: IIIT Director

Allahabad, Aug 20 (UNI) IIIT Director Dr M D Tiwari who is at RGIIT-Amethi to mark the 62nd birth anniversary of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi today said a discovery park will be established by the institute at Amethi soon.

Dr Tiwari speaking at a seminar on '' Rural Initiatives-- A National Perspective'', at the .RGIIT Amethi said that after the discovery park in the US, this would be the country's first park where 12 centres would be established to promote research work in information technology, bio technology, micro engineering technology and nano technology.

Referring to the collaborative agreement with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the IIIT-A Director said eight village resource centre had been established at Tikarmafi, Amethi, Gauriganj, Jais, Jagdishpur, Uchahar, Rai Bareli and lalganj which would provide a single window delivery of need based services in the areas of education, health, agriculture, environment, counseling and others in remote rural areas.

These centers would be completely operational in next two months, he added.

Earlier inagurating the seminar, Hari Chaitnya Brahmchari Maharaj of Tikarmafi Ashram said the institute had established its strong presence in the area within a short span of one and half years.
