DHD militants and search party trade bullets

Diphu, Aug 20 (UNI) Cross firing between escaped DHD cadres and a search party of the outfit was reported this morning from Hamren sub-division of Asom, police said.

Superintendent of Police Anurag Tankha said that the incident took place at Lanfer village, about 12 km from Kheroni police station, at about 0830 hours.

DHD cadres, camping in N C Hills, found five of their militants missing. The escaped ultras included four of the DHD (Jewel) faction.

The inmates of the camp traced them to a Karbi household in the village. The escaped cadres fired at the search party, who retaliated in defence.

However, no injury or casualty was reported, Mr Tankha said.

The escaped cadres managed to give the search party a miss, Mr Tankha added.
