Corporation intensifies drive to check spread of Chikungunya
Chennai, Aug 20 (UNI) Chennai Corporation today organised special medical camps in north Chennai to diagnose people with symptoms of Chikungunya.
A medical officer of Chennai Corporation here said the Corporation had planned a four-week long drive to decrease the incidence of communicable diseases including malaria and Chikugunya across the city.
He said the drive would be extended to other parts of the city, shortly. Brochures, pamphlets and announcements were made during the drive to create awareness among the people.
The civic headquarters had intensified its regular fumigation to control the breeding of mosquitoes.
Following panic among the residents that Chikungunya may affect them, the Corporation initiated a major medical and fumigation drive, mostly focussing on slum areas in the city.
