Biogas plants need of the hour

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh Aug 20 (UNI) V Durga Das, Joint Collector, West Godavari today urged to establish Biogas plants in a big way in view of abundance of cattle in the district.

Mr Das was addressing as a Chief Guest in a programme on 'Renewable Energy Day'(Akshay Oorja Diwas) here at under the aegis of NEDCAP.

He said that in view of the population growth, everyone should utilise the natural sources properly. The officials concerned should create awareness among the people on setting up of renewable energy sources like solar units, he added.

He said the Government had sanctioned subsidies to rural people to set-up renewable enery equiments to save coal and petroleum, among others. The indiscriminate cutting of trees for wood in rural areas, would affect the greenness and ecological imbalance, he added.

He paid tributes to Rajiv Gandhi and said the former Prime Minister had concentrated on development of human resources. Rajiv had established the 'energy mission' as part of his aim to make the country superpower in 21st century, he added.
