Bihar celebrates Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary

Patna, Aug 20 (UNI) Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) today observed the 62nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as ''Energy Day''.

After paying glowing tributes to Mr Gandhi at state Congress headquarters, BPCC president Sadanand Singh appealed to party workers to translate the dreams of the leader into reality.

The country made remarkable achievements in the field of science and technology during the regime of the former prime minister, he said.

A function was also organised jointly by Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) of the state government and the Centre and the day was observed as ''Energy Day''.

Addressing the function, Bihar Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav stressed the need for sensitising the masses towards the use of non-conventional energy.

Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary was also observed in various districts of the state.
