Ambala MLA booked under Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act
Ambala, Aug 20 (UNI) Police today registered a case against local Congress MLA Devinder Bansal for alleged defacement of the National Flag on hoardings on the occassion of Independence Day.
The case was registered under Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act.
The FIR lodged by the Vikas Parishad president and former MLA Anil Vij and BJP leader and former Member of Parliament Rattan Lal Kataria alleged that the MLA insulted the tricolour in utter violation of the provisions laid down in the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971.
The hoardings showed the full-size portrait of Congress MLA Devinder Bansal and photographs of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Union Minister of State for Urban Employment Kumari Selja and AICC President Sonia Gandhi. The colour of the Ashok Chakra was in red instead of blue, they claimed.
