Wild elephants creating havoc at Littami Village
Kohima, Aug 19 (UNI) A herd of wild Elephants has been destroying paddy fields and after flooring several huts at Littami village in Nagaland's Zunheboto since past one week, official sources here said today.
Village Council Chairman N Kughazhe Assumi said the presence of wild pachyderms and their destroying act has created panic among the villagers, who preferred to remain indoor for safety.
The elephants, believed to have come from Asom, refused to leave the place despite many attempts to drive them out.
Mr Assumi has appealed to concerned authorities to take necessary action to drive them away before any life is lost.
