Vidyut took SPIC-TNCA XI to victory

Chennai, Aug 19 (UNI) A blistering knock of 194 by S Vidyut and a century by M Vijay (109) helped SPIC-TNCA XI score a comfortable innings and 155 run win over Tripura and eight points in the Mindteck Buchi Babu All India cricket tournament here today.

Resuming at 163 for no loss, the home team made mincemeat of a toothless Tripura attack and declared their innings closed at 434 for five in 81 overs, a first innings lead of 316 runs.

Openers Vidyut (194, 250 balls, 18x4, 3x6) and M Vijay (109, 133 balls, 8x4, 2x6) added 207 in 47.3 overs. Vidyut and Badrinath (58, 38 balls, 7x4, 2x6) added 101 in 12.2 overs before the declaration was made.

As the second innings was restricted to 45 overs a side, Tripura finished at 161 for four, leaving the home team winner by a big margin, with a day to spare.

In another match, Rajasthan, with a 119 run lead, was on the verge of scoring an outright win against Gujarat, which were bowled out for 200 in 79.4 overs in the first innings.

Resuming at 17 for no loss, Gujarat wilted under the mesmerising spell of off spinner Rahul Kanwat who bagged five wickets. Rajasthan had reached 80 for four in 21 overs in their second innings at stumps on day two.

Tripua 118 and 161 for four in 45 overs (Rasudev Data 32, Nirupam Sen Choudhry 40, Abhinandan Roy 40 not out) lost to SPIC-TNCA XI 434 for five declared in 81 overs (M Vijay 109, S Vidyut 194, S Badrinath 58, Anupam Dey 3 for 107).
