TCS to commision Offshore Outsourcing Centre at Sirucheri
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 19 (UNI) The Information Technology (IT) major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will commission an Offshore Outsourcing Centre at Sirucheri near Chennai, according to S Ramadorai, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), TCS.
Talking to newspersons here today, he said the TCS was building a major campus for the purpose at a 75-acre land. The first phase of the project will be completed before the end of next year and the whole project would be completed by the end of 2008, he added.
He said the Centre would accommodate over 15,000 programmers and next to Chennai, the TCS was planning a similar centre at Coimbatore, for which they were searching for a suitable land.
Mr Ramadorai said the TCS had recruited more than 3000 students from various colleges in Tamil Nadu, which was 60 per cent more than what it was done in the previous year. This year also they have planned to recruit more number of students than last year, he added.
He said in Coimbatore, they have recruited about 1200 students last year. TCS policy was to promote business activities in Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli, among others, he added.
