Sri Lankan woman held in Chennai

Chennai, Aug 19 (UNI) A 60-year old Sri Lankan woman, who was wanted by the Kerala Police, was detained by immigration authorities soon after she landed at Anna International airport here today.

Official sources told UNI that a case was registered against the woman, Doraiyamma Jayakumar by the Trivandrum taluk police station some time ago. However, she managed to evade arrest for a long time.

The Kerala Police had announced a red alert about the possible arrival of Ms Doraiyamma to the country, on which the immigration authorities acted swiftly and detained the woman.

Later, she was handed over to the local police, who remanded her to judicial custody.
