Sankriti School teacher wins 'Unsung Heroes...' Delhi round

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) Asiya Hamid Rao of Sanskriti School today won the Delhi regional round of the 'Unsung Heroes...No Longer Awards for Excellence in Education 2006.

Urmila Chowdhury of The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar came second followed by Ekta Sharma of Mira Model School in the third position.

The regional round was held at The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar.

Regional rounds are held in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune before the finals in Mumbai next month on 'Teachers' Day'.

Instituted by the Rustom Irani Foundation, the national-level awards carry Rs 50,000 each to the first prize winners and the school.

Last year, Preminda Langer of The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar had won the Delhi regional round and the top prize, the 'Outstanding Educator' award.
