Rich tributes paid to Sharma on 88th birth anniversary

Bhopal, Aug 19 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to former President Shankar Dayal Sharma on his 88th birth anniversary here today.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan garlanded the statue of Dr Sharma at Retghat trijunction here.

Mr Chouhan said Dr Sharma was deeply committed to democratic values. A memorial in his memory would be started shortly.

A programme was also organised at the state's Congress office.

Commenting upon Dr Sharma's contribution towards Madhya Pradesh's development, state Congress Vice President Ashok Jain Bhabha said the former President played an important role in taking the Bhopal Railway Division to new heights.

State Congress General Secretary Manak Agrawal and other prominent citizens garlanded Dr Sharma's portrait and paid tributes to him.
