President's award for 11 in HP

Shimla, Aug 19 (UNI) The Governor of Himachal Pradesh V S Kokje today conferred the President's award to 11 people of the state.

The awards were presented at a simple but impressive investiture ceremony at Raj Bhawan here.

DIGs O C Thakur, Shiv Ram Sharma and P L Thakur, SP G D Bharwa, ASP Balbir Singh Thakur, DSP Prem Chand and Inspectors Leka Ram and Shamsher Singh were honoured with police medals, while Sub Fire officers Tilak Singh Balouria and Muni Lal Gautam were awarded Fire Service Medals for their meritorious services.

Ms Sulekha Devi, resident of Jol village in Kangra district was awarded with Jeevan Raksha Padak for her valiant effort in saving her son from a leopard.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and several of his ministerial colleagues were also present on the occasion.
