President, Vice-President greet people on Navroz

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam and Vice- President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today greeted the people on the occasion of Navroz, the Parsi New Year that will be celebrated tomorrow.

In a message, the President said Navroz ''signifies a new dawn when Mother nature rejoices in her spiritual beauty by bringing in the new.'' He called for spreading happiness and asked people to work hard to make the nation happy, peaceful and secure with prosperity.

''Let us open our hearts and share our happiness with those who are in need,'' Dr Kalam said.

The Vice-President wished that Navroz brought peace, prosperity and happiness in the lives of the people, especially the poor and the deprived.

''The mood of rejoicing and gaiety is vividly captured in the colourful festivities of the festival which promote social harmony and brotherhood and strengthen our composite culture,'' the Vice-President said in his message.
