Overall improvement in Bismillah Khan's health
Varanasi, Aug 19 (UNI) Despite continuance of electrolyte imbalance, the overall health of ailing shehnai wizard Bismillah Khan has shown marked improvement over the last 24 hours.
Medical Superintendent of Heritage Hospital here -- where the 92-year-old music icon was being treated -- Brigadier P S R Aiyar told newsmen this afternoon all his vital parameters were normal.
''His blood pressure, heart beat are normal and routine tests have shown that all his vital organs are functioning normally,'' he maintained.
Dr Aiyar, admitting, the electrolyte imbalance still persists, said treatment of the disorder coupled with oral intake of diet had increased which is better for the potassium level in the body. The Biliubin factor -- a vital indicator of liver health -- had also become normal.
The hospital superintendent, however, informed the stool test of Khan Sahib had shown traces of occult blood, indicative of some internal bleeding. More tests will be conducted to ascertain its cause.
''Overall Khan Sahib's condition is satisfactory and is likely to improve further. The improvement in his health was best accentuated by the ease with which he is responding to relatives,'' Dr Aiyar added.
